Linstock Barn was awarded Winner of the LABC Northern Building Excellence Award for Best Change of Use of an Existing Building or Conversion. Architects Plus were extremely pleased to receive the award alongside developer, McKnight & Son Builders. The project will now join other regional winners for the Grand Final to be held in November at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel, London.
We are pleased to announce ‘Linstock Barn’ and ‘Houghton C of E School‘ have been shortlisted for an LABC Northern Building Excellence Award. Our new build hotel project ‘Lodge at Solent’ is also up for an LABC South East Building Excellence Award. Directors Christian Judd and Barbara Gower will be attending the awards event in Gateshead later this year.
Houghton C of E Primary School, near Carlisle, was officially opened on Monday by Councillor John Bell, Chairman of Cumbria County Council. Architects Plus have greatly enjoyed working on this £1.4m project, which has increased the capacity of the school with two new classrooms, a new kitchen and an enlarged school hall.
Architects Plus recently completed the refurbishment of the Royal Oak, Keswick, and the Toll House Inn, Lancaster. Both buildings are Grade II Listed and required the sensitive refurbishment of the buildings to include repairs to windows and roofs alongside a comprehensive well thought through re-design of the interiors, including public lounge areas and all bedrooms.
Throughout 2016 and 2017, Architects Plus were involved through all RIBA stages to design and construct a new 54 bedroom two storey hotel building, alongside the refurbishment of the existing Parsons Collar Pub, for Daniel Thwaites Plc. Full height windows and glazed balconies help to maximise views from the bedrooms, whilst the crisp white render, natural western red cedar and natural slate complement the woodland setting.
We are pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for a new contemporary house design on the outskirts of Carlisle. The design was developed in response to the steeply sloping site and takes full advantage of the spectacular views across the Petteril Valley. Detailed design work continues at pace toward a site start next year.
