Houghton C of E Primary School, near Carlisle, was officially opened on Monday by Councillor John Bell, Chairman of Cumbria County Council. Architects Plus have greatly enjoyed working on this £1.4m project, which has increased the capacity of the school with two new classrooms, a new kitchen and an enlarged school hall.
HOTEL REFURBISHMENTS COMPLETED

Architects Plus recently completed the refurbishment of the Royal Oak, Keswick, and the Toll House Inn, Lancaster. Both buildings are Grade II Listed and required the sensitive refurbishment of the buildings to include repairs to windows and roofs alongside a comprehensive well thought through re-design of the interiors, including public lounge areas and all bedrooms.

Throughout 2016 and 2017, Architects Plus were involved through all RIBA stages to design and construct a new 54 bedroom two storey hotel building, alongside the refurbishment of the existing Parsons Collar Pub, for Daniel Thwaites Plc. Full height windows and glazed balconies help to maximise views from the bedrooms, whilst the crisp white render, natural western red cedar and natural slate complement the woodland setting.

We are pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for a new contemporary house design on the outskirts of Carlisle. The design was developed in response to the steeply sloping site and takes full advantage of the spectacular views across the Petteril Valley. Detailed design work continues at pace toward a site start next year.

Architects Plus has successfully obtained planning approval on the former Caldewgate School site, Carlisle, for a series of new 3 bedroomed townhouses and 1 – 2 bedroomed flats for a local developer. Following the detailed design stages, it is hoped that building works on site will begin next year.
NEW ROMAN BATH HOUSE

Whilst undertaking archaeological excavations for Carlisle Cricket Club’s new pavilion, designed by Architects Plus, a Roman bath house was discovered! Described as ‘Premier League’ in terms of Roman treasures, the bath house is thought to have been used by an elite Roman cavalry unit.
