An office refurbishment of a Grade II Listed building, this project was constantly reviewed and developed to offer the most suitable and sustainable interventions to reduce energy use. While respecting the historic nature of the building a ‘fabric first’ approach was taken to improving the thermal envelope. Secondary glazing and internal wall insulation was installed wherever possible and a sustainable approach to specification reduced the overall CO2 impact of the project.  (the external wall insulation alone would be responsible for saving 5 tonnes of CO2 per annum).

The project was shortlisted as a finalist in three categories of the North West Regional Construction Awards 2023, the SUSTAINABILITY AWARD; CONSERVATION & REGENERATION AWARD and the CUMBRIA SUB-REGIONAL PROJECT OF THE YEAR.
