Keswick, Cumbria

Netherfield is a development of 42 dwellings nestled on a Lake District hillside near Keswick. The development is the result of successful negotiation with the local planning authority to achieve a massing and design to suit its location, utilising a sensitive mix of materials. The development responds to the topography of the site, the local vernacular and takes cues from the surrounding scenery is deriving its form.

The project incorporates a mix of sustainable technologies and energy efficient principles. High levels of insulation within a timber framed structure are combined with high workmanship standards to create a robust building envelope. Solar panels and air source heat pumps are also utilised to contribute to each property’s heating and hot water demands. Further measures are employed to minimise water usage and sustainable urban drainage principles are adopted for surface water disposal.
