Architects Plus relationship with Cranstons first began in 2001 when they were commissioned to design a new foodhall adjacent to their existing factory on Ullswater Road, Penrith. This was a new venture for the award winning, high quality butchers, moving away from the small town centre shop to a larger scale food outlet / emporium format. The building was designed to reflect the established traditional, family image of Cranstons and also to move forward with a more contemporary, clean aesthetic.

The striking roof geometry has soon become a significant and recognisable feature for everyone travelling past the building on their way into Penrith town centre.

Architects Plus have continued to be involved in other projects for Cranstons and this has included the completion of Orton Grange Foodhall, Carlisle, and Brampton Village Stores.
