Brunel House is a large private residence for the managing director of a local steelwork fabrication company. The project was featured in Cumbria Life and Carlisle Living where it was described as “an ultra-modern and eco-friendly feat of engineering” and “the most spectacular home ever to be featured”.

The project features a number of energy efficient systems, such as an air source heat pump and whole house ventilation with heat recovery. It also boasts a sweeping curved glass façade that overlooks the open countryside. Architects Plus developed the designs for the property in close collaboration with the client who was keen to utilise his company’s skills as a metal fabricator wherever possible. The result is a well-crafted beautiful piece of architecture with many bespoke details.
