The Lakes Distillery

Architects Plus is acting as architects to the Lakes Distillery Company and has just gained planning consent for their designs for a new distillery and ancillary facilities. The new development is to be situated at Setmurthy, near Bassenthwaite in the Lake District and occupies the site of a former Victorian model farm. The scheme reuses existing historic farm buildings, thereby saving our built heritage and also bringing new life and jobs to the area.
The development includes the distillery buildings that will produce the new Lakes Malt but also a visitor centre, shop and café.
Architects Plus is now progressing the detailed construction drawings and work is scheduled to start on site in February 2012 with gin and whisky production commencing later in the year.
