Environmental Policy

Architects Plus is committed to providing a quality service in a manner that minimises our potential impact on the environment and ensures a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and visitors. We will operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and we will strive to use pollution prevention and environmental best practices in all we do.

In our workplace we will:

- Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making and activities.
- Promote environmental awareness among our employees
- Reduce waste through reuse and recycling
- Promote efficient use of space heating/lighting, equipment, materials and resources particularly those that are non-renewable and include energy efficiency as one of the selection criteria when purchasing new equipment.
- Communicate our environmental commitment to our staff, clients, customers and the public and encourage them to support it.
- Periodically review our environmental policy and performance.

Architects Plus recognises that the products of our designs will have far more environmental impact than our own operations therefore we are further committed to exercising our professional skills in such a way as to minimise environmental impact.
To act as responsible professionals we must include the environmental agenda within the brief of all projects whether or not it is written explicitly into a client’s requirements.

In our design work we are committed:

- To give due consideration to environmental issues and energy performance in the planning and design of buildings, urban design and landscape design.
- To raise the awareness of clients about sustainability and environmental protection, and help the members of the design team to develop a shared vision of environmental aspirations.
- To investigate, assess and where appropriate, embrace the latest advances in engineering and environmental technology which are intelligent and relevant.
- To make informed decisions regarding the selection of construction materials, and specify materials and components with the optimum balance between cost, environmental impact and performance in use.
- To ensure that our employees are continually informed of all relevant environmental legislation and industry standards through our managed CPD programme.
